Our "flexible schedule policy" enables women with families to work part-time or reduced-hours schedules. For example, one woman works a 30-hour week, another works weekends and two afternoons per week from her home, and another works five days a week. As their children grow, we expect that these schedules may be modified to accommodate home obligations. If and when these employees decide to increase their hours to full-time, we will have highly trained and loyal full-time employees.
We have also allowed for flexibility in terms of the hours an employee works, enabling employees to spend time with their families. For example, an employee may work an hour or two during non-traditional business hours and then attend a child's sporting or scholastic event that takes place during traditional business hours. We also provide our employees with additional paid holidays so they can spend more quality time with their families.
We realize that our employees must balance their professional and personal lives and try to make all reasonable efforts to accommodate them. Staff retention is most easily accomplished when our employees are happy with their professional and personal lives.
The changing demographics of the workforce may have forced us to evaluate quality-of-life issues that were not present a generation ago. After evaluating and adapting, we feel that we are better positioned for the future and our firm will be that much stronger and better situated for its next 50 years.
