Working at a bank is very different from working at your local fast food restaurant. There are a few steps to keep in mind when looking for employment in a financial institution.

The first thing to keep in my when looking for a finance jobs is the importance of a college education. This is the case for any entry level bank job. The competition for bank jobs is very strong and it is important to set yourself apart from the field of people applying for banking jobs. You can start with an Associates or Bachelor's degree but the most important aspect of education is excellence; making sure that you poses grades that showcase your attention to detail and more.

Once you finish your college education, then you have to decide where you would like to work and what type of financial institution you want to work for. This is important because you must know the requirements of the employer. There are Trade banks, local, national, and international bank opportunities and they all require different qualities from their applicants.

Now, the next point is very important but is overlooked by many applicants, and this is the preparation of the resume. The resume must be crisp and professional. Many people don't know how to write a resume and because of this, they use resume writing services. Monster and CareerBuilder are just two of many online options for resume writing. Even if you feel that you have written a good resume, I encourage you to have someone review it before you ''take it to the bank''.

So, you have the college education, you know where you want to work and you have the resume. Now, look in the mirror and check your appearance. Ask yourself: Is my appearance fitting for a professional job in finance? Whether you are looking for a Human Resource job, Accountant, or any legal job, there is a certain way that you should dress. If you wear anything less than a suit or dress and professional style shoes, it's just wrong, so don't do it, unless they ask for it.

Now, you are ready. Send in your resume and follow up with the goal of getting an appointment. Answer all the questions, precise and to the point. Also, ask questions of your own. After you leave the interview, send a 'Thank You for the Interview' card to the interviewer about 2 to 4 days later. Good luck.

What I liked about the service is that it had such a comprehensive collection of jobs! I was using a number of sites previously and this took up so much time, but in joining EmploymentCrossing, I was able to stop going from site to site and was able to find everything I needed on EmploymentCrossing.
