Description

The Senior Accountant role is a great opportunity to expand knowledge about a complex Medicaid product, while working closely with a supportive and collaborative team. We are looking for an energetic, curious, and positive individual who can collaborate with team members and the internal departments at Humana that we support.

As part of Humana's Medicaid expansion, our team as a whole supports all aspects of financial close for the product, including the preparation of journal entries, general ledger reconciliation, budget-to-actual analysis, and completion of varied external reporting needs to our government partners. As a part of that team, this role will focus on external report creation and reconciliation.

Responsibilities

The Senior Accountant role performs activities supporting monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting requirements to various states where Humana offers a Medicaid product. As an expanding product with Humana, it is anticipated that reporting needs will continue to grow.

Work assignments are of moderate complexity, requiring data gathering, analysis, and reconciliation to support reporting needs. Reporting needs and deadlines vary by state, requiring interpretation of requirements documentation and flexibility in work priority to support timelines.

While this is a finance position, which requires an understanding of financial information, the role is not one that will be focused on journal entries or general ledger reconciliation. Due to the volume of data and report requirement needs, a candidate with some technical experience (SQL, SAS) is preferred. Work will be a mixture of set reporting items, research to answer questions from internal and external partners, and ad hoc projects.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Accounting/Finance

5 or more years of financial accounting or technical experience

Moderate experience with Microsoft Office products, primarily Excel, Word, PowerPoint

Previous experience with financial reporting and/or data analysis

Strong verbal and written communication skills

Experience/Exposure to SQL or SAS to query databases and process data

Preferred Qualifications

Some exposure to leadership or management experience

Certified Public Accountant license, or Master's Degree in Business Administration

Location:

Remote KY; this position is essentially a Hybrid Home position, requiring one day in the office each week in Louisville, KY.

Work-At-Home Requirements:
