About the job
This position is needed for
a key contributor with a proven record in telecommunications transaction tax compliance, audits and billing responsibilities. This Twilion will be responsible for owning telecom tax compliance from tax engine mapping, billing taxes, tax exemptions, and maintaining the relationship with our outsourced tax filing partner. This person will stay current on telecom taxes in order to maintain taxation rules for existing services while rendering taxability determinations on new products and services.
Responsibilities
In this role, you’ll:
Timely filing of US and international telecommunication tax returns by our outside tax advisors
Complete telecom tax/fee returns in-house that are not outsourced, i.e. state telecom utility gross receipts tax returns and other like-kind telecom regulatory filings as well as timely payment of taxes
Research nexus analysis for potential telecommunication transaction tax requirements in new jurisdictions
Reconciliation of telecommunication transactions tax general ledger accounts
Perform analysis of tax accounting for telecommunication transaction taxes collected and remitted
Lead the telecommunication transaction tax exemption process
Research statutes, regulations and case law and draft technical memorandum for review
Assist with the telecommunication transaction tax audits in the US and foreign jurisdictions
Liaise with tax advisors on various telecommunication transaction tax projects
Qualifications

Required:
3-5 years of telecommunications transaction tax experience dealing with Federal & State Universal Service Fund (FUSF & SUSF), Federal Excise Tax (FET), Emergency 911 (E911), Public Utility Commission Fees/Gross Receipts Tax (PUC) and Telecom Regulatory Service Fees (TRS) and other similar taxes
Ability to collaborate with the Tax, Accounting and Legal Regulatory Teams located in the US & Internationally
Willingness to roll up your sleeves, take responsibility and own their projects
Ability to handle multiple domestic U.S. and international entities
Strong accounting and Excel skills
Taxation research skills using Checkpoint or similar online research tools
Bachelor's degree with emphasis on accounting
Experience with telecommunication transaction tax compliance, reconciliations and tax automation systems such as Avalara, Vertex, OneSource, SureTax, etc.
Working knowledge of Netsuite and/or Oracle
Good written and oral communication skills
Desired:
Experience with the following software is preferred: Airtable, Alteryx, Tableau, Looker, Coupa, FloQast, Zendesk
Location
This role will be
remote, and based in the US.
Approximately
less than 5% travel is anticipated.

The estimated pay range for this role, based in Colorado, is
109,280.00
136,600.00
Non-Sales: Additionally, this role is eligible to participate in Twilio's equity plan.
The successful candidate’s starting salary will be determined based on permissible, non-discriminatory factors such as skills, experience, and geographic location within the state.
