OR
B) Two (2) years of experience in accounting or auditing.
General Description
This entry level position involves routine accounting work including the general monitoring of accounts, review and posting of entries, and preparation of standard financial reports. The work is performed according to established accounting procedures and involves the use of automated and manual systems. Direct supervision is received from higher level personnel. Related work is performed as required.
Typical Work Activities
Prepares and reviews entries to automated financial systems, such as journals, claim vouchers,
appropriations and encumbrances, according to established governmental procedures;
Reconciles receipts, expenditures and deposits recorded on automated systems with bank statements and manual or subsidiary ledgers;
Retrieves information from automated financial systems;
Inputs financial information using personal computer software, such as spreadsheet and database programs;
Prepares, under supervision, standard fiscal reports by compiling and computing financial information;
Confers, personally and in writing, with internal accounting and clerical personnel, departments,
municipalities and businesses relative to routine accounting matters for clarification;
Transcribes balance sheets;
Deposits money to specified accounts;
Inputs information for the preparation of financial statements;
Audits vouchers, claims, invoices and payroll;
Gathers information as needed for auditors.
