Ward and Smith, P.A. is a growing full-service law firm with multiple offices throughout North Carolina. We are seeking a Staff Accountant to join our New Bern office.

Success in this position requires a commitment to quality at all times; exceptional time management, organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills; excellent verbal and written communication; proficiency in QuickBooks, BNA fixed assets, and Excel; ability to exercise extreme discretion with sensitive and confidential information; and meticulous attention to detail. The Staff Accountant must be able to work independently in a fast-paced environment, collaborating with team members as needed. Experience in a law office or other professional services environment is preferred.

This position is responsible for ensuring the integrity of the financial data as it relates to the Balance Sheet by performing monthly account reconciliations; assisting with trust account audits; preparation and filing of 1099's; maintaining the fixed asset system along with the property tax filings; responsible for financial reporting of subsidiary companies of Ward and Smith, P.A. along with other accounting related tasks as needed.
