Remote Sales and Use Senior Tax Accountant

This position is remote and can be based anywhere in the United States.

Sr. Tax Accountant – Property and Indirect Taxes (Sales and Use)

The associate will assist with the company’s property, sales and use tax compliance obligations in the many state and local taxing jurisdictions in which Humana operates. Research is often required to determine the taxability and rate to be applied to our purchases and sales activity. The associate will work with the systems that support our compliance and audit processes and provide support to our separate business segments for their specific issues.

The Senior Tax Accountant focuses on Sales and Use, Business Licenses I and Property taxes. Maintains tax information and records, prepares tax returns and other required reports, and pay tax declarations so that compliance obligations are submitted accurately and on time. Prepares correspondence with external tax agencies (for example, auditors). Begins to influence department’s strategy. Makes decisions on moderately complex to complex issues regarding technical approach for project components, and work is performed without direction. Exercises considerable latitude in determining objectives and approaches to assignments.

Requirements

A Bachelor's degree in Accounting (CPA preferred).

A minimum of 4 years’ experience with property and indirect taxes (sales and use).

A well-developed understanding of property/sales tax systems and best demonstrated practices.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Strong organizational skills – able to manage tax processes, develop work plans, meet deadlines and coordinate with others.

Familiarity with the Thomson Reuters OneSource IDT systems is preferred.

Multi-state tax experience is preferred.

CMI (Certified Member of the Institute) is preferred.
