Description
The Senior Accountant performs general accounting activities, including the preparation, maintenance and reconciliation of ledger accounts and financial statements such as balance sheets, profit-and-loss statements and capital expenditure schedules. Conducts or assists in the documentation of accounting projects. The Senior Accountant work assignments involve moderately complex to complex issues where the analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of variable factors.
Responsibilities
The Senior Accountant prepares, records, analyzes and reports accounting transactions and ensures the integrity of accounting records for completeness, accuracy and compliance with accepted accounting policies and principles. Provides financial support, including analyzing variations from forecasts and budgets. Begins to influence department's strategy. Makes decisions on moderately complex-to-complex issues regarding technical approach for project components, and work is performed without direction. Exercises considerable latitude in determining objectives and approaches to assignments.
Responsible for the accounting of the business' revenue and claims each month as well as Revenue cycle reporting and reconciliations for the business.
Review and prepare financial data, transactions and reports, including ad-hoc data requests for executive leadership.
Partner with Health Care Provider Payment Platforms to ensure proper load of financial terms included within contractual arrangements and validation of quarterly settlements
Develop methods and criteria for measuring and summarizing financial data and preparing complex analyses.
Special projects as business requires.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance
3-5 or more years in an accounting related position
General ledger experience
Experience with accounting reconciliation and month end close responsibilities
Comprehensive knowledge of Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel
Knowledge of SQL applications. (understanding if/then/where statements and making appropriate adjustments)
Ability to manage multiple priorities
Strong analytic skills with attention to details
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Must be passionate about contributing to an organization focused on continuously improving
Preferred Qualifications
Master's Degree in Business Administration
Certified Public Accountant license
Previous healthcare industry experience
Experience with Essbase/Smartview
Knowledge of Service Fund Reporting
Additional Information:
This will be a 'hybrid-home', working in the office and at home on the designated days. The office location is the Humana Tower, downtown LVL, Ky. Candidate must be located within a commutable distance to the office location.
