The
Alexander Blewett III School of Law
invites applications for an
Accounting Associate IV
to oversee budget management for the Law Library and Law Student Groups. The position reports to Director of the Law Library and Director of Fiscal Operations. The position is expected to understand and comply with general principles of budget management, University of Montana fiscal and procurement policies and procedures, and specialized law library purchasing and licensing procedures. The position is a vital member of both the law library staff and the law school administrative team and is expected to be able to prioritize responsibilities and communicate well.
Specific responsibilities and expectations are outlined below.
Law Library Budget Manager:
Perform all accounting functions and manage all Law Library accounts.
Ensure compliance with all applicable fiscal policies and procedures.
Provide budget reports, projections, and analysis.
Conduct regular audits of Law Library cash funds.
Develop and make recommendations regarding improvement of internal fiscal procedures.
Law Library Purchasing Agent:
Purchase all library materials, services, and equipment.
Organize, track, and document purchases and receipts.
Maintain adequate supplies for the operation of the office and library.
Member of the Law Library staff:
Provide customer service, understand law library policies and procedures and general principles of library reference, and participate in law library strategic planning.
Staff Budget Manager for Student Groups (Student Bar Association Groups and Law Reviews):
Perform all accounting functions.
Manage all Student Group accounts.
Conduct regular audits of Student Group cash funds.
Act as petty cash custodian.
Provide guidance and training to student group leaders.
Establish procedures and provide logistical support for executing all types of events.
Ensure compliance with all applicable fiscal and procurement policies and procedures.
Provide budget reports, projections, and analysis.
Develop and make recommendations regarding improvement of internal fiscal procedures.
Required Skills
Ability to provide professional verbal and written communication with tact and diplomacy.
Ability to handle multiple, complex, and time sensitive tasks with the highest degree of accuracy and poise in a highly visible environment.
Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Ability to exercise sound judgment and maintain strict confidentiality.
Excellent organizational and record-keeping skills.
Proficient in use of personal computers, printers, and common office software, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and Adobe Acrobat.
Minimum Required Experience
High School diploma and three (3) year of experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Preferred Qualifications
Previous library experience.
Previous experience managing various funds including: general, designated and private.
