What is the group
Data Analytics is a quantitative modeling group within Shell Energy Americas that supports front office and support functions by providing a foundation of modeling and systems that help scale the business. Our team supports the integration of new trading models and data and works with IT on a coordinated technology landscape. The team is within commercial and partners across trading, origination, Risk, and support functions to develop analytics and reporting for valuation, market and operational risk, performance tracking, and insights for management.
What is the role
Shell Energy Americas is seeking a senior quantitative analyst for our growing Data Analytics team. Our business spans North and South America Electricity, Natural Gas, and renewable energy regulatory product markets. This position is responsible for supporting the business with advanced portfolio analytics and working across teams to provide a modern system infrastructure and landscape. We work closely with trading and support functions to build and integrate portfolio models that provide insights to trading & origination, and support all risk, credit, and management needs. We work closely with IT partners to ensure models are supported in production environments with modern data integrations and architecture.

Duties/Responsibilities:
Working across business to understand business needs, and to solve system, processes, data, and modeling challenges
Developing advanced models for the Energy business.
Working with IT to implement models in production environments, carrying out testing and writing documentation
Requirements:
Must have legal authorization to work in the US
BA in Engineering/Computer Science/Mathematics or other technical field. Masters preferred.
5 Years of experience of Power and Gas markets
Experience working with large datasets and coding: Python, Matlab, VBA, SQL
Experience working with trading data and advanced modeling techniques
Familiarity with database design, data integrations and production coding
Familiarity with fundamentals drivers of power and gas markets, trading strategies, risk metrics, and financial reporting in GAAP/IFRS.
Excellent communication and presentation skills, both written and oral
