Marine Spill Response Corporation is a not-for-profit, U.S. Coast Guard Classified Oil Spill Removal Organization. MSRC was formed in 1990 to offer oil spill response services and mitigate damage to the environment. MSRC offers a full range of oil spill response capabilities intended to help meet the planning criteria of the Oil Pollution Act of 1990.
MSRC is offering an excellent opportunity for a Division Controller
to support the Marine Division in our Herndon, VA
location. Reporting to the Division Vice President with indirect reporting to the Corporate Controller, this position prepares/reviews and monitors division operating and capital budgets, generates financial analyses, prepares various financial reports, develops forecasts of expenditures, and recommends cost savings. This position creates and administers training to Vessel Captains to increase their knowledge and understanding of budget concepts, principles, practices and procedures. Additionally, the position has financial responsibilities in a variety of other areas including strategic investment budget development and tracking, leased vehicle budgeting, billable events, and internal audit.
Requirements:
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or an equivalent.
Minimum of ten years of experience performing accounting and financial analysis.
Experience preparing budgets and financial forecasts.
Strong organizational and time management skills.
Proficient in accounting systems; Great Plains, Quickbooks and Ariett preferred.
Advance Excel skills and proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with external and internal customers.
Must be available to report to work within 2-hours in the event of an oil spill or drill.
Must be able to travel to vessels and other locations that MSRC requires to fulfill the job responsibilities.

Responsibilities:
Prepare the Division’s annual budget, forecasts and financial reporting to Corporate Finance.
Responsible for timely processing of the Division's financial transactions.
Responsible for reviewing the Division's expense reports and invoices for accuracy and adherence to company policies and procedures.
Supervises and mentors Division Accountant.
Able to perform financial analysis identifying issues and trends.
Assist the Corporate Finance Department with the design, development, documentation and execution of policies and procedures for the accounting department.
Interact and respond to requests for information from internal and external auditors.
Participate in Division management meetings and train Managers and Vessel Captains on budget concepts and financial policies and procedures.
Tracking of vessel fuel consumption and preparation of annual refueling recommendations.
Physical Requirements:
Requires the ability to wear the personal protective equipment prescribed by posted signs and written instructions.
