JOB SUMMARY

Responsible for complex accounting activities associated with maintaining the general ledger and for the production of various resultant financial statements. Normally directs a group of accountants. May participate in complex general accounting projects.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Provides technical and administrative supervision for accounting personnel.

Examines and evaluates subordinate's work product for accuracy and completeness. Identifies training needs of subordinate staff and provides technical guidance.

Oversees the preparation of the balance sheet and profit and loss statements, coding of invoices/vouchers with proper account distribution, and compilation of data for the preparation of regularly scheduled and special accounting reports.

Reviews, posts, and prepares journal entries. May analyze and prepare consolidation entries.

Responds to internal client requests and questions. Conducts research on more difficult inquiries.

Prepares monthly account analysis of balance sheet accounts, develops adjusting entries as needed, and reviews status of all significant accounts with Accounting Management.

Processes billing/invoicing and enters data into the accounting databases. Researches and resolves accounts receivable issues.

Prepares and/or reviews projections of accounting data to show effects of proposed changes on income and financial condition.

Participates in special projects and companywide initiatives. May lead responsibilities for special projects.

Ensures that systems and procedures are in compliance with company policies, acceptable accounting practices, and applicable regulations.

Maintains accounting processes and procedures, which comply with generally accepted accounting principles, tax requirements, SEC requirements, and management reporting requirements.

Other duties may be assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Provides formal supervision to individual employees within single functional or operational area. Recommends staff recruitment, selection, corrective action and termination. Prepares and delivers performance appraisal for staff. Mentors and coaches team members to further develop competencies. Leads by example and models behaviors that are consistent with the company's values.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE

Bachelors Degree in Accounting, Finance or related field required; a CPA may be required OR equivalent combination of education and experience. 5 years experience in public and/or private accounting, including 2 years lead or supervisory experience.

CERTIFICATES and/or LICENSES

CPA preferred.

COMMUNICATION SKILLS

Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong organizational and analytical skills. Ability to provide efficient, timely, reliable and courteous service to customers. Ability to effectively present information. Ability to respond effectively to sensitive issues. Highly developed written, oral, and presentation skills, and ability to effectively interact with management, employees, regulators and external auditors. Ability to effectively respond to complex inquiries or complaints from clients, co-workers, supervisor, and/or management. Ability to present information to an internal functional group.

FINANCIAL KNOWLEDGE

Broad understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), Financial Accounting Standards (FASB), theories, concepts, and practices of the business unit. Requires advanced knowledge of financial terms and principles. Ability to calculate advanced figures such as percentages, discounts, and commissions. Conducts advanced financial analysis. Conducts intermediate financial analysis. Advanced understanding of accounting and bookkeeping concepts. Ability to assist with budget and forecast preparation. Administers accounting practices to ensure optimum client satisfaction while guaranteeing CBRE financial interests are protected.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to comprehend, analyze, and interpret complex documents. Ability to solve problems involving several options in situations. Requires advanced analytical and quantitative skills. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.

OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES

Advanced skills in Microsoft suite applications. Advanced knowledge of computer applications related to real estate accounting or financial management systems.

Decisions made with thorough understanding of procedures, company policies, and business practices to achieve general results and deadlines. Responsible for setting work unit and/or project deadlines. Errors in judgment may cause long-term impact to department.
