Responsible for all payroll tax activities, including compliance with local, state & federal regulations for the company and its affiliated entities, focusing on items such as: accuracy of tax calculations; year-end documents; reconciliations; and funds distribution. Maintains an awareness of current practices and trends in payroll processing, and informs company about changes in all current payroll, tax regulations, laws and policies. Implements changes and improvements for greater efficiencies in payroll processes. Acts as a liaison with service providers for tax filings and invoice reconciliations. Responds to questions and special requests from employees and tax authorities. Usually determines own work priorities. Acts as resource for colleagues with less experience
Job Description
Core Responsibilities
Devises legal means to minimize employer and employee tax liability using thorough knowledge of tax laws and regulations and any other expert resource.
Assist payroll management and staff in the maintenance of Workday payroll operational and tax system configuration. Help the team identify upstream and downstream system reliance and cross-functional system impacts.
Identify areas for system controls, incorporate into requirements and document the controls.
Review Workday produced system documentation for completeness, adding critical details and edits as required.
Provide assistance to design payroll operational and tax procedures.
Develop detailed operations flowcharts including prerequisite and trailing cross-functional process mapping. Ensure proper control points and documented requirements.
Review PWC provided procedural documentation for completeness, adding critical details and edits as required.
Working with payroll management, assist in the testing of myExperience (Workday) system configurations and changes. Document testing results. Assist in defect mitigation and close activity.
Looking at the overall Payroll Ecosystem is a must. The Senior Analyst will be working closely with the Payroll Operations, Payroll Systems, Accounting, HR Operations, HR Benefits, HR Compensation and other Comcast teams. Division / Bus. Unit representatives as well as various myExperience, Workday and PWC team members will be engaged.
Assists with internal and external audits relating to tax matters.
Reconciles payroll and tax data between third party provider and general ledger.
Oversees completion of varying specific year-end processes.
Resolves complex issues and ensures compliance with all International. Federal, state, and local regulations.
Possesses expert Excel skills, meaning ability to create pivot tables and write macros.
Consistent exercise of independent judgment and discretion in matters of significance.
Regular, consistent and punctual attendance. Must be able to work nights and weekends, variable schedule(s) and overtime as necessary.
