The University of Montana invites applications for an Audit Manager to coordinate audit projects across the University of Montana affiliation. Internal audit activities include appraising, examining, and/or evaluating: financial and operational procedures for adequate internal controls; financial transactions for accuracy and compliance with institutional or system policies, timeliness, reliability, and usefulness of institutional records and reports; the level of compliance with required internal policies and procedures, state and federal laws, and government regulations; and management or program reviews designed to improve departmental operations and procedures. The Audit Manager must be committed to providing timely, quality service in support of The University of Montana’s vision and strategic objectives.
This position will plan and conduct compliance, operational, and financial audits for the University of Montana’s campuses, departments and activities, facilitate discussions with management on audit findings and corrective action plans, perform follow-up activities, and communicate corrective action plan implementation status to management. This position will directly supervise staff, manage administrative tasks, and coordinate audit projects. This position reports to the Director of Internal Audit and Enterprise Risk.

Position Details
Position is full-time, 1.0 FTE, MUS Contract and includes a comprehensive and competitive benefits package
including Insurance package, mandatory retirement plan, partial tuition waiver, and wellness program.
Salary for this position is $60,000 - $63,000 per year commensurate with qualifications.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business administration or related field.
Three (3) years progressive experience in a business, financial or auditing setting; or an equivalent mix of education and experience.
One (1) year supervisory experience.
CPA and/or CIA or equivalent certification or ability to obtain within twelve (12) months of hiring.
In-depth knowledge of accounting principles and auditing standards with the ability to apply them effectively in a variety of situations.
Ability to juggle multiple competing tasks and demands while consistently meeting deadlines.
Strong analytical skills, ability to gather pertinent information and assess it for compliance with various policies and procedures.
Effective interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills including the ability to convey information in an easy-to-understand manner to others.
Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain professional working relations with a diverse group of individuals at all levels of the University community.
Willingness and ability to learn new applications.
Ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree in relevant field.
Five (5) years of progressive experience in a business, financial or auditing setting.
Three (3) years of supervisory experience.
Experience in a higher education setting.
Experience with SCT Sundgard/Banner.
