is seeking to fill a
Lecturer or Clinical Professor
position in Accounting, with a January 2022 or August 2022 start date. We will consider applicants who would like a less than full time appointment. Applicants will be expected to teach at both undergraduate and master’s levels in fall and spring semesters and engage in professional and service activities. We will consider applicants with either a practitioner or academic background. Salary is dependent on qualifications and is comparable with peer universities in the region.
Required qualifications:
Master of Accountancy, Master of Tax, or Ph.D. in Accounting degree from a school accredited by AACSB International prior to the starting date of employment. Other master degrees in business are also acceptable if the candidate has significant, recent professional experience in accounting
Teaching experience or interest in the following areas: financial accounting, tax, governmental accounting, IT assurance
Recent, relevant professional experience in accounting (including relevant certification) or an active research agenda in accounting as demonstrated by peer review publications in the last five years
Must be able to teach on the University of Montana campus
Preferred qualifications:
Recent teaching evaluations and/or awards demonstrating quality teaching.
Demonstrated commitment to serving the needs of diverse students (e.g., Native Americans, first generation college students, non-traditional aged students, military veterans)
Demonstrated ability to engage with the profession
About the Accounting Programs and College of Business
The UM Accounting programs consist of a bachelor’s degree and a Master of Accountancy. The accounting faculty take a collaborative and responsive approach to supporting the success of our students, both academically and professionally. We pride ourselves on our rigorous and relevant curriculum which prepares students to work for public accounting firms in Montana and throughout the mountain West. Approximately 95% of our MAcct students have jobs by graduation, and our CPA exam pass rates have historically been well above the national average.

We nurture our students’ innate work ethic to develop confident problem solvers and ethical decision makers. The College is one of the largest professional academic units on campus and is accredited by the AACSB at the undergraduate and graduate levels. The Accounting program is separately accredited by AACSB, and is the only accounting program in Montana with that designation.
