Job Description Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Tax Closing and Reporting Leader to join our multinational energy company at our US headquarters. The ideal candidate for the Closing & Reporting Leader position will have an ability to create strong relationships among Leadership, Global Controllership, Investor Relations, Legal and other stakeholders. You will be required to have in-depth knowledge of the business and disseminate the tax impacts and consequences associated with tax requirements. You will be responsible for managing all tax requirements for external reporting. You will report to the Director of Tax Operations.
Job Description:
Responsible for the global consolidated tax provision, quarterly filings, and preparation and review of the tax footnote and related disclosures
Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including finance, accounting, and legal teams, to gather necessary financial data and ensure accurate tax reporting.
Providing tax input and support the quarterly and annual SEC reporting process
Prepare and review tax provisions, tax returns, and other tax-related financial statements in compliance with US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
Manage the consolidation and reconciliation of tax-related data to ensure accurate and timely reporting.
Coordinate with external tax advisors and consultants, as needed, to leverage their expertise and ensure compliance with tax regulations.
Stay up-to-date with changes in tax laws and regulations, assess their impact on the organization's tax reporting, and communicate relevant updates to internal stakeholders.
Implement and maintain effective internal controls to ensure the accuracy and integrity of tax-related financial data and reporting.
Oversee income tax accounting forecasts related to cash taxes, tax expense and tax balance sheet accounts.
Manage external auditor relationship for US GAAP audit of income taxes.
Assist with income tax accounting analysis and related disclosures for acquisitions or divestitures
Lead and manage a team of tax professionals
Provide guidance and support to the tax team and other departments on tax-related matters, including training and development initiatives.
Collaborate across the GE Vernova Tax Team to provide training and share best practices.
Drive and be involved in global projects, interact with cross-functional teams within the organization
Drive improvements in tax accounting processes to increase efficiency and decrease risk of error
Additional tax and close related tasks as needed
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. Advanced degree and professional certifications (CPA or similar) are highly desirable.
At least 8-12 years of relevant experience in tax, preferably in a leadership role within a multinational corporation or public accounting firm.
Strong knowledge of US tax laws, regulations, and reporting requirements.
Extensive experience with tax provisions (ASC 740), tax returns, and tax-related financial statements.
Proficiency in US GAAP and financial reporting principles.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen attention to detail.
Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to effectively oversee and develop a team of tax professionals.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate and build relationships with internal stakeholders and external advisors.
Advanced proficiency in tax software and Microsoft Excel.
