Job Description:

Position Purpose

The Senior Tax Advisor is a member of the U.S. Tax Advice Team focused on U.S. consolidated group, partnership, international, and general U.S. corporate and business tax matters. He/she will interface include the U.S. Corporate, U.S. Upstream, U.S. Downstream, and U.S. Compliance and Reporting Tax Teams as well as various businesses.

The role will be responsible of delivering high value, comprehensive, accurate, and timely direct tax advice for corporate planning, Central Functions and other cross-sector and/or cross-border matters that directly impact shareholder value.

Potential to work on U.S. / Non-U.S. matters and special projects as assigned where value and priorities dictate.

The Senior Tax Advisor role will be accountable of specific areas, such as:

Research, evaluate, develop and implement tax planning.

Tax lead for commercial projects spanning each of the Shell business sectors.

Tax lead for projects related to the US consolidated tax group with a focus on key US tax attributes, including tax losses and foreign tax credits.

US focal for advice related to proposed law changes in the Corporate and International areas.

Skills & Requirements

What we need from you -

Must have legal authorization to work in the US on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer

Must have JD/LLM or Masters of Taxation.

Minimum of seven (7) years of experience in business taxation in a multinational firm or professional firm.

Technical knowledge and experience in U.S. domestic and international tax law (including inbound/outbound taxation, relevant business tax planning, consolidated group attribute planning and modelling, structuring, transfer pricing, partnerships, and tax treaties).

Fundamental understanding and knowledge of income tax accounting and tax provision preferred.

Effective communicator of complex tax issues; both written and oral;

Effective client/project management, task prioritization

Effective at establishing and utilizing external relationships and contacts for the benefit of Shell

Strong negotiation skills and effective at influencing others internally and externally;

Ability to adapt to new or changing circumstances and ambiguous or pressured situations;

Demonstrates imagination and creativity in the evaluation of issues and development of possible solutions;

Ability to recognize opportunities, spot and evaluate tax risks, balance risk with business objectives, and make recommendations that are objective, practical, technically appropriate, and supportive of the business; and

Effective team player on Tax and cross-functional/cross-sector teams
