SUMMARY:

This position will oversee the accounts payable function and manage an accounts payable team for multiple production facilities, prepare required sales and use tax returns, perform the monthly financial close process for the U.S. Proteins Division office or oversee the fixed asset accounting for the U.S. Proteins Division and other duties that may be required to support division accounting management. Must be able to work one mandatory Saturday a month during month end close.

Effectively communicates through active listening; acting on input; sharing information in an open, timely manner, while maintaining appropriate confidentiality and encouraging others to do the same.

Oversee the accounts payable function for multiple production facilities to include supervising a team of 5-10 Accounting Assistants I and II.

Responsibility for payment generation process to include check runs and EFT submissions and the monthly AP close process.

Fixed asset entries, depreciation process and reporting.

Review and approve monthly accounts payable accrual entries. Prepare applicable monthly sales and use tax returns.

Prepare financial and management reports as required.

Hire, train and develop accounts payable staff to include performance management, on-boarding and terminations.

Responsible for understanding, communicating, and enforcing the policies and procedures outlined by U.S. Proteins accounting department and in the Corporate Financial Policies Manual.

REQUIREMENTS:

Education: Associates Degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business.

Experience: 3 years of experience with accounting systems and procedures. 2 years of supervisory experience, preferred.

Communication Skills: Effectively communicates through active listening; acting on input; sharing information in an open, timely manner, while maintaining appropriate confidentiality and encouraging others to do the same.

Computer Skills: Intermediate understanding of Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word. Intermediate to advanced analytical and problem-solving skills
