Job title: Finance Manager
Location: Welwyn Garden City
Duration: 6 months initially
The Role:
You will be part of a small Portfolio team within a wider Centre of Excellence team and will be expected to provide financial support and rigour to a broad range of projects that will touch all areas of the organisation. You will work with and support Finance, Project Stakeholders, Technology and external parties to ensure they receive the financial support needed to ensure their projects deliver on time and in budget. You will be at the heart of the CoE Financials, ensuring a consistent approach is maintained whilst following the correct governance and procedures.
Responsibilities:
?? Prepare periodic reporting to the Finance Change Director, Programme sponsors and appropriate Finance Change Governance forums (FCLT, Super Steerco meeting)
?? Provide insight and analysis to Programme Managers to identify and flag risks and opportunities
?? Ownership for Finance Change period end activities including preparing accruals, cross charging and forecast submission
?? Responsibility for ensuring Project Managers submit their monthly project forecasts on time using the agreed framework
?? Support Project Managers understand and unpick any financial variances
?? Work with the Resource Manager to ensure a robust process is in place for tracking resource costs across the Portfolio, e.g., recording budget implications of resource changes
?? Work with the Resource Manager to ensure a robust process is in place for tracking non–resource costs across the Portfolio, e.g., ensuring POs are receipted accurately and timely
?? Work with the PMO Manager to ensure cost centres are set up and budgets allocated correctly in Oracle Fusion. Encourage Managers to use the reporting tools in Fusion
?? Educate stakeholders on cost management to ensure budget holders are cost conscious congruent with Group policies and strategies, local legislation and governance (e.g., right approvals are obtained in a timely manner) Change requests – supporting financial implications
?? Continually review the existing Forecasting process in collaboration with the Tech team, to streamline and improve where necessary.
?? Continually keep abreast of the project status, its Finances and approvals, using the agreed methodology
Requirements:
?? Experience of large corporate financial budgeting and planning processes would be an advantage but not essential
?? Experience of taking ownership of a role and the ability to drive the agenda forward
?? Experience of raising risks and issues and confidently sharing a solution
?? Agile and responsive to a fast–paced environment
?? CA/CIMA/ACCA qualified or equivalent
