POSITION PROFILE
The Senior Accountant is responsible for the general ledger activities for Edelman Leather. This includes, but is not limited to, the accuracy of interfaces, journal entries, reporting and analytics. He or she will represent the accounting department when interacting with internal and external customers.
Essential Functions
Maintain the General Ledger; prepare accruals and adjusting entries related to the month end close
Help generate the company’s monthly financial statements and quarterly financial reports
Responsible for fixed asset database on Sage
Perform monthly account reconciliations
Maintain intercompany accounting and relationships with various entities
Prepare analytical analysis for both the Income Statement and Balance Sheet
Report month end statistics using Hyperion Financial Management System
Ad-Hoc reporting and analysis
Prepare and analyze year-end audit package, including schedules and reporting requirements
Assist management with company and departmental projects
Magnitude and Relationship Reporting
This position reports to the Director of Finance.
Contacts Inside and Outside the Organization
This position typically has contact with employees at their level and management. It also has direct contact with accountants at the parent company and external auditors.
Required Skills
Ability to successfully perform under pressure and within tight deadlines and with minimal supervision
Strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills; ability to multi task
Ability to work with confidential information
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, and Outlook
Accounting, Fixed Asset and Consolidation Systems like Sage and Oracle Cloud a plus
Suggest and implement process improvements
Ability to work with staff through all levels of the organization
Required Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
5-7 years of general accounting experience
Public accounting experience a plus but not mandatory
