Job Description:

Shell is looking for candidates that are passionate about the energy transition and have a track record of successful project valuation, modelling and structuring in the Solar, Onshore wind, and storage space.

We are seeking candidates for the role of Senior Finance Advisor to be part of a dynamic and collaborative Renewable & Energy Solutions team supporting ambitious growth targets for Shell to be a leading player in the energy transition.

Where you fit in -

The Senior Finance Advisor reports into the finance team in Renewables & Energy Solutions Americas. The role will have leadership and managerial accountabilities.

What is the role -

The role provides financial leadership and support across the whole finance spectrum including valuation, structuring, tax, treasury, accounting, and credit and market risk. Combining your knowledge of commercial drivers the role can challenge strategic rationale and integrate important financial analytics and insights into business decision-making. Advisor will work independently with the business in shaping deals, commercial decision making, risk management, implementation, operations, and performance management.

Key Responsibilities:


Develop a strong finance team that support Shell’s ambitions with a focus on the Onshore Power business
Lead in ensuring value and risks are made transparent and understood in both decision making and in performance management.
Lead valuation work or lead in review of economics, including assessment and framing of value and risk of full opportunity by developing and maintaining economic and financial models for investment opportunities and development projects
Support business development M&A activities through the creation and maintenance of project- and sponsor-level valuations. Identify potential acquisition and divestment opportunities for portfolio optimization.
Support business development PPA origination activities through the creation and maintenance of PPA tender models.
Research and model the impacts of regional incentives and features of power markets.
Prepare and present decision material in connection with tenders, auctions, and M&A activities
Influence project outcome by ensuring value and risks are made transparent and understood in both decision making and in performance management.
Liaising with the many different stakeholders and helping to bridge the gap between finance and the rest of the business.
Providing input to long-term financial planning for the Onshore Power business in the US


Skills and Requirements

What we need from you -


Must have legal authorization to work in the US on a full-time basis.
Masters degree preferred in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or Business.
Minimum 10 years of experience, ideally within the power or renewable energy sectors in either a banking setting or in a project developer.
Proficient and experienced in working in Excel with discounted cash flow valuation, risk modelling, and impact on accounts
Some travel is required, typically less than 15%.
Strong presentation creation and delivery skills

Ability to effectively manage multiple stakeholders, internally and externally.
Excellent collaboration and communication skills.
Proven track record of delivering complex projects
Continuous Improvement mindset essential
