Veolia Environnement (Paris Euronext: VIE) achieved consolidated revenue of 28,508 billion euros in 2021. ****Job Description This position will monitor, maintain, and develop Accounting accrual functions and duties to ensure complete and fair representation of related financial statements accounts and disclosures, collaboration with Consolidation, Financial Planning and Analytics, Operations, Treasury, and Tax. The candidate will be streamlining processes including reporting, forecasting, and cash management.
- Ensure accounting policies, GAAP & IFRS standards are followed.
- Ensure all General Ledger accounting standard procedures (SOP) are followed, updated annually, new accounting processes are documented in the standardized format and saved in standard location.
- Ensure all GL journal entries have an instruction page with the details of why the JE is needed and steps how to create & check the journal entry.
- Approve all Manual Journal Entries before it is posted to the General Ledger
- Review all Balance Sheet reconciliations
- Plan, organize and coordinate Month-End Close.
- Participate in Planning, organizing, and coordinating the year-end close process with internal and external auditors
- Oversee and support the accounting team with dynamic leadership that creates an environment of trust and productivity
- Training and retaining competent accounting staff
- Protect integrity and ethics of the corporate financial information
- Monitor, assign, and/or work requests from other departments.
Assistance in any other accounting areas as delegated by Advanced Solutions Controller
Qualifications - Strong Accounting knowledge (GAAP, IFRS)
- Proficient in accounting reconciliation and analysis
- Proficiency in accounting tools including Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint and other necessary financial tools
- Ability to use report writing software to obtain analytical data required
- Team leadership, team building and team participation skills
- Planning and Organizational skills
- Critical, logical, analytical thinking a must
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Must have excellent work habits, including a willingness to work the hours necessary to get the job done, especially when important deadlines cause greater than normal departmental pressures
- Some travel required approx. 10%
- Advanced degree in Accounting (Bachelor/ Masters) & CPA or CMA preferred
- Proven working experience as an accountant / senior accountant
- Thorough knowledge of accounting principles and procedures
- Experience with creating financial statements
- Experience with general ledger functions and the month-end/year end close process
- Some management/ supervisory experience preferred
