Job Details:
This position is primarily responsible for supporting company-wide compliance for state/local tax credits and incentives by working closely with state/local governments and internal resources. Other responsibilities include assisting with state tax audits, performing tax research, providing support for sales and use tax returns filed, assisting with the preparation of state sales and use tax returns, and various other tax related activities.
This position is also responsible for creating and maintaining programs, data files, and reports using various database applications and spreadsheet software for internal accounting use within the Tyson functional areas. This includes assisting in maintaining the general ledger system, including data input, processing, and output to users at Corporate at most Tyson locations, maintenance to the financial reporting system, and assisting new users of the financial reporting system. Other responsibilities include assisting other users who are having problems with software applications, creating reports, granting security for G/L and A/P systems, reconciliation of tax accounts and performing other duties as needed. This position should also be able to research and interpret state tax laws in order to support tax positions. This position has responsibilities for identifying tax incentive opportunities, incentive applications, tracking and compliance reporting for tax incentives.
Requirements:
Education: Bachelor's Degree or equivalent with emphasis in accounting. General knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles, tax laws and accounting is required.
Experience: 4 plus years of experience in tax or other relevant areas. Public accounting experience as well as CPA certification is a plus.
Computer Skills: Standard computer skills. Candidate must have ability to work with Vertex software, SAP, Excel, Access, IDEA software, Word, and Outlook. Must have ability to perform technical research using CCH, BNA, RIA, or other tax research tools.
Communication Skills: Good written and verbal communication skills
Travel: 1 to 5 domestic trips per year.

Specific Position Requirements: It is preferred for this position to have the ability to multitask, good interpersonal skills. Advanced understanding of technological components associated with sales and use tax automation.
