The Financial Analyst I position is responsible for coordinating the budgets for all the business units, month-end close processes, forecasts, and daily operating reports. As part of the Finance team, this position is also responsible for ad-hoc analysis, performance reporting, forecasting and budgeting to ensure a positive financial position and healthy business direction for the company.
Detailed job description, including responsibilities, work performed, tools or equipment used, etc.:
Partner with business unit leaders to ensure annual budgets contain adequate financial resources to achieve operational strategies that drive company goals & objectives
Produce and monitor key performance indicators and provide interpretation of developing trends
Identify potential issues and jointly manage resolution with operations team
Participate in the month end closing process and assist Controller with ensuring timely and accurate financial statements
Create predictive models to support the budget & forecast process; update models with current information and maintain their proper functioning
Provide ad hoc economic analysis for decision-making
Prepare financial management reporting with accuracy and timeliness
Provide variance analysis on financial results with follow up on agreed action plans
Participate in operations meetings making note of changes in business that may impact achieving budgeted profitability either positively or negatively
Provide additional support as requested by immediate supervisor and Division VP as needed and assigned
Compliance with all company policies and procedures as well as any regulatory requirements

Minimum skills, experience, education and ability for this job:
High school diploma; Four-year degree, preferably in Finance or Accounting
Must have 3 or more years of related accounting and finance experience
Excellent knowledge of corporate financial analyses including budgeting and forecasting preferred
Knowledge of ski industry, travel industry, hotel industry, F&B industry, and resort management preferred
Working knowledge of Excel mandatory with advanced skills preferred
Excellent problem solving, technical and analytical skills
Must demonstrate good communication skills and self-initiative
Expected to organize, coordinate, and direct teams and projects
Must interact and maintain positive relationships with guests, co-workers and management consistent with Steamboat Ski and Resort Companys Service Excellence standards
Physical Requirements:
Must be a minimum 18 years of age
Must read, write and communicate verbally in English in a clear and professional manner
Must sit for extended periods
Strong oral and written communication skills
Miscellaneous information:
This is a salaried exempt position and is not subject to overtime pay
Employment is contingent of the successful completion of a background check
The base salary range below represents the low and high end of the Steamboat Ski & Resort Corporation salary range for this position. Actual salaries will vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors including but not limited to experience, education, training, location, merit system, quantity or quality of production, responsibilities, and regular and/or necessary travel. The range listed is just one component of Steamboat Ski & Resort Corporations total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term and long-term incentives and many region-specific benefits.
Steamboat area base salary range: $50,000 - $60,000 per year
