Profile
The Office of Sponsored Programs seeks a highly organized and professional person to serve as Assistant Director of Sponsored Programs. The Office of Sponsored Programs is primarily responsible for pre-award activities that begin with proposal development and proceeds through proposal submission, award negotiation and execution. Additionally, this office participates in the negotiation and interpretation of intellectual property terms in grants and contracts in order to ensure that the rights of sponsors and developers of technology are protected. Sub-awards also are prepared and negotiated in this office.
The Assistant Director of Sponsored Programs reports directly to the Director of Sponsored Programs. She/he will prepare and submit grant applications; act as a liaison between researchers and sponsoring agencies; coordinate collection of related grant data; assist with reporting and analyzing grantsmanship; and, serve as office support when needed.
Duties and Responsibilities
Works closely with the campus community to provide a full range of research administration services, primarily focusing on pre-award grant and contract support;
Manages assigned pre-award activities including collaboration with researchers for proposal submission;
Assists researchers with proposal budget preparation;
Researches and analyzes information on potential funding sources to ensure compliance and adherence to applicable agency (private, state, and federal) and University regulations;
Serves as primary contact with other University departments and external funding sources, as needed, with respect to administrative and contractual matters;
Assist in maintaining/updating OSP databases;
Perform special projects and other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Experience in grant administration.
Comprehensive knowledge of sponsored programs and research administration;
Knowledge of various government agency and corporate sponsored program requirements, practices, and grants management and submission systems
Ability to work independently and to support a team
Ability to communicate effectively with diverse constituencies
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Strong Interpersonal skills.
Ability to set priorities and adjust time management to changing needs
Experience using Microsoft programs (i.e. Word, Excel, Outlook)
May require some travel
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Public administration, Business administration, Accounting, Finance, or related field; Experience within the area of research administration and research contracts.
